RHETORICAL ANALYSIS
•Piece: A photo of a soldier greeting a child in a different country. Found on opensalon. Published on October 10, 2012.
•Agent: This photo was sponsored on Opensalon. I could not find any credentials nor could I get contact information to know.
•Receivers: The audience could be the U.S. Yes I would be. I do believe just because you are sent to a country to hate the people there, you don’t have to compromise your morals and not respond to a child that would want to meet you.
•Agenda: Just by looking at the photo I could not find any bias in it.
•Demands: The demand to have kindness still present even when you are in a battle zone. If the demands are met, then less innocent people will be harmed or people from other countries will have a better image of the US soldiers. If not bet, innocent people could be harmed and we can have a bad reputation.
•Inquiries: I want to know if the soldier got to know the boy better. It is not really doing any manipulation.
•Gains: I did not gain anything from it. It showed me that, as some soldiers are very set on just their own country that that are a lot out there that care for people no matter the race. They are truly in the army to help out and make a difference.
•Motivators: I think it was to show the kindness of American soldiers, that we don’t only go into countries looking to destroy them, but we truly want to go in there making a difference. I also tried to look for anything that showed anything nice with true power.
