Reflective introduction
There are two types of people; visual people and written word people. Written word people can read anything and get something out of it, either a meaning, or the main idea. Simply read whatever someone wrote and understand it completely and actually picture it in their mind. Then there are the people that actually want to see what someone means, in a picture form of some kind, because in some cases it can actually show everything that someone else tried to put into a thousand words. That is exactly why seeing a bunch of pictures with the same theme and the same idea can be just as useful and even more so when looking at a certain topic. It shows more feeling and opinion than what a few words could possibly say.
Power in my opinion is having the ability to control situations and choices around you, feeling like you are capable of doing almost anything. So why would it be important to be looked at? Because it can say a lot about someone’s character, and whether or not they are willing to do something for their surroundings. Power is most important when looking at people, and since people make up society and this earth it should be understood and most definitely looked at in the right ways, because if not, this world could be in for a disaster if there isn’t the right power around.
Which all comes down to why the power of kindness is what I chose to look at for this project. Without kindness in this world, the world would be full of sadistic, crazy, mean people. Nothing would be humane and all you might see on the streets are murders and stealing. Once you put kindness into it all, it significantly changes. People can walk down the street and not fear that they might die or be mugged. What I learned when gathering these photos though, is that kindness comes in many different forms and it really depends on the person how much kindness will be shown. May it be your best friend, you spouse, your sister, your pet, a homeless person, and even your enemy, there is some sort of kindness that can be shown and that is a true power.
When people look at these types of photos they should get out of the world that this place isn’t as bad as skeptics might think. There is still power in humanity and kindness that still lurks out there, and once you see it, you should go out and feel the need and want to do the same back to society.
The photos that may have been closely related to me might be the ones all involving animals. I am a sucker for anything cuddly or what you can make you own personal domestic pet, so when I see other people feel the love for their pet as I do mine, it makes my heart all warm and fuzzy inside. I like seeing that to people, an animal isn’t just a helpless creature that can be tossed aside, but really are part of the family.
The image that most helped with learning my subject was definitely the one with the man giving away his shoes to a girl who had nothing. It was just a simple act of kindness that probably meant the world to this girl. It makes you think that, if it really is that easy to help out people and cause them to feel hopeful then why we, don’t as people, do it more often. But it overall helped me learn that, in this big, cold world, we still have people that are willing to give up their shoes on their own feet just to help someone else out. That ultimately shows the true power of kindness.
The process of this whole project was a helpful one indeed, and I appreciated every step I had to take. To gather all this information at one time and try and write about everything would have overwhelmed me, causing me to probably not have done as well on it. It also gave me time to make sure I knew exactly what topic I wanted to do as well, instead of choosing one right off the back, doing a lot of work for it, and regretting it later. With later projects I will probably try to split it up into different components, so instead of one big project, its several tiny projects, which sounds so much less scary.
